I suppose that all of us have heard the old rumor that George Lucas kicked around the name "Indiana Smith" before settling on a "less common" name. Anybody know why he chose "Jones"? I hate to break this to George Lucas, but Jones is a very common name. I know at least fifteen non-related Joneses. Was Jones chosen in honor of someone? Of course, now that we're all totally used to the name Jones, I can't imagine him using any other name. Indiana Stankowicz? Indiana McClellan? Indiana Diliberto?

PS Jones is apparently the second most common name in Scotland (Henry Sr's homeland). Numbers one and three are Smith and Brown, respectively. Indiana Brown?
