In Reply to: I wish this could be better news but it was reported earlier today that blues legend John Lee Hooker passed away at the age of 83 in his California home. This is the man that brought boogie to the world and took it with him through the veil. Born in Mississippi he became known later as a Detroit bluesman. His sound was distinctive consisting of his voice, electric guitar, and foot keeping the beat. His genius gave the world classics like "Boogie Chillun", "Boom Boom", and "Crawlin' Kingsnake" to name a few. In "The Blues Brothers" he played "Street Slim" on the now defunct Maxwell St. Market. Plus his music was featured throughout the movie giving him a new audience. Find out more about the life and passing of John Lee at HOB.com: posted by Dr.Jones on June 22, 2001 at 01:38:21:
