I'm with you on that one. The opening scequence (not just inside the temple) hints at what's ahead during the next two hours.
Not to mention that it's done so well. It's my favorite part of Raiders.
The Cairo market scene would be next (Chim-Chim is great!), followed by the truck chase. The Well of Souls comes next...
FG
PS: Not one of your friends mentioned the Cairo market scene? Jeez... :p

: I recently had a "discussion" (some might call it an argument...) with a friend of mine (my friends are all idiots, I might add...) about the best scene in Raiders. I much prefer the opening scene in the idol temple, what with the sand bag trick, the giant boulder, the decomposing corpse of Forestall, etc. My friend (let's call him "Ed") proclaimed that the truck convoy scene in which Indy took on the entire Wehrmacht but ended up losing the Ark in the long run anyway was miles ahead of the temple scene. Yet another person protested that the Well of Souls was the penultimate of Raiders scenes. Finally, a fourth person was of the opinion that we should all look into therapy. And amazingly enough, we all agreed.
: So how about it Indyfans? Which of these three is the best scene? Or is there one you prefer? We were grading them on suspense, excitment and number of dead things.
