From what I heard, an expidition ( not neccesarily by Stanford ) made it into the tunnles under the temple, and acctually found the arc. However, the Israli government denies this, and has put VERY strict restrictions on the Temple. I was there about two years ago, and there isnt ANY scientific attention on the place at all. So I would doubt that Stanford got very close to the temple at all.
