I bought a used Wested Lambskin, with satin lining, about 4 months ago. It is the older design, so I am guessing that it is about a year old, or so. I have worn it all over the place, and this one is tough. It isn't 'grainless', in fact, it has quite a bit of grain, and it is distressing nicely. If I could fix one gripe, I would make it the newer design, because my pleats stay open.
As for the weather issue, I have worn mine down to 0 degrees, and all the way up to about 65 degrees, and it treats me just fine. I would recommend the satin lining if you put up with harsh winters, but still want the lamb for drape, weight, or breathability.
I hope this all helps!
Wes
