He rescued a couple of young ladies who were suffering heat stroke and being lost in his neighborhood a few months ago, as well. It was all over Cosmo magazine.
It seems that Mr. Ford truly is a great guy off the screen. I was stationed in DC just after he was in town making "Clear and Present Danger," I think the movie was. The director had insisted on using actual Naval Honor Guard personnel for the scene of an Admiral's funeral. All the guys who worked with him said it was a great experience.
Sad to say, I missed that chance by a couple of months.
You just can't win them all.
At any rate, there are more than likely still several large photos upon the walls of the building were I worked, proudly showing a Naval funeral detail in Arlington National Cemetery with Mr. Ford right in the middle in a Navy ballcap. How cool is that?
Let's be careful out there.
