: :L'Amour also wrote some very good 1930's adventure stories. His publisher collected them in two volumes. One is called Night Over the Solomons. I forget the other. Very good, though. Lots of Far East intrigue and action pre-WWII, just like Indy. Also good is the contemporary adventure story Last of the Breed, about an USAF pilot shot down in the Soviet Union and how he relies on his Native American Indian skills to escape the Gulag and survive in Siberia.

Very true, but the 1930's stories were based on his personal experiences, where the "Haunted Mesa" and "Last of a Breed" were novels. True Indy type material, none the less! Regards

: If anyone would like to try a new concept, try this. Louis L'Amour, the great western writer, also wrote several novels that have a more recent timeline, but are still set in the western areas of the US. If there was one written that should have been an Indiana Jones adventure, it would be "The Haunted Mesa". If you want to enjoy an excellent book, and in your mind substitute Indy's name in the place of Mr.L'Amour's hero, you will have in your hand a most enjoyable story that I believe would translate very well to the screen. It follows our kind of thinking that we want to see Indy involved, and yet it doesn't dealve into the same old formula that we have found ourselves reading. I highly recommend this one to all of you. It definately is a good read! Regards.
