1)Turn around is anywhere from a month to two months depending on Peter's schedule. Both of mine took a month. Plenty of time for Halloween!
2)The jacket is made to the measurements you supply. Gender is not an issue. First, find a leather jacket in a store that fits the way you'd like your Wested to fit and note the size. Also, take these measurements:
SLEEVE LENGTH: from base of neck, over the shoulder and down the length of your arm to the canter of your hand. If you like your sleeves long go all the way to the knuckle. The sleeves crease rapidly, like an accordian, and raise the length a bit.
CHEST: around your chest just below your arms. Don't snug the tape measure!
SHOULDERS: across your back from shoulder to shoulder.
LENGTH: from the base of the neck (in back) to your waist.
3)As for over compensating, at most I'd allow no more than a half inch over your acctual dimensions. When trying on jackets and taking the measurements wear what you'll typically wear with the jacket, i.e. sweater, heavy shirt, etc.
4)The 'Raiders' jacket has a much narrower collar, is shorter in length (just below the waist) and has scalloped pocket flaps. The 'Crusade' has a wide collar, is longer in length and has plain pocket flaps, rather like the flap of an envelope.
5)Definately new finish. The pre-distressed does not look like Indy's but rather like the cheap pre-distressed leather jackets of the '80's. Don't be disappointed; the jacket you receive will not look like Indy's at first. New lamb is dark and very glossy. Almost looks like cheap vinyl. There's a fellow that posts here by the name of MK. He works as a make-up artist in the film industry and has complete instructions on how to age leather on his site. Just throw up a post with his name in the heading to get his attention, that's how we do it here:)
6) The shine will fade with time and you'll get the wrinkles and creases almost instantly. But you'd have to wear it for years and treat it like Indy to get the full effect:)
Final note: you can order cotton or satin lining. As far as accuracy it's said that both were used in the film. Cotton breathes better and you can wear it in warmer weather. The jacket is very tailored; the sleeves are not as baggy as most are used to. You may want cotton in the body and satin in the sleeves, as the cotton grabs your shirt in a bad way when you put it on. Hope this all helps!
