This is before the days of consumer video, and film wasn't meant to stand up to scrutiny like this. People generally saw a movie once in a theatre, and that was it...if it was good, you'd see it few/quite a few times. Only a handful of classics would be re-released on anniversary's etc.

There isn't one shot in Raiders of a stuntman that lasts longer than 7 or 8 seconds I'd wager. Now we can pause those seconds, and of course we can see irregularities. See, video has made moviewatchers cynical and judgemental, where they ordinarily wouldn't care.
