Is that characters like Bond and Tarzan existed long before they made their way to film. Fans didn't have that option with Indy, which is why Ford is so strongly identified with the character.

I think another actor playing Indy is about as likely as another actor playing Han Solo- at least as long as Lucas holds the rights.

True, one day someone might want to remake Raiders- but why would a studio invite the headache of dealing with Lucas over the license when they could just make a film like Indy and still have a huge hit (ie. The Mummy, Tomb Raider)?
