I do not really have a problem with my whip staying in place. I got it coiled with the handle in the holster. Like the scene when Marion thinks his whip is a snake in the WoS. The handle moves couple inches after awhile but all I have to do is put it back into place. Since i got 2 of Lee's holsters now I tried this. Use both holsters for the whip. Hopefully you guys have 2 holster. This definately keeps the whip in place. It doesn't move at all! I have not tried it with the handle hanging down yet but with the handle in the holsters, it is very secure. And with 2 holster on your belt, it does not affect the look at all.
