I wear the hat and/or jacket, shirt, and Aldens all the freakin' time, and people NEVER pick up on the origin of the gear. And I say that in all seriousness. I mean, I've been a gearhead for 20 years now, since I was a kid, and I think three times in 20 years has anybody even said anything as innocuous as "Hey, Indy." And I've NEVER been teased, ever. Not that it would bother me much.

Sample reactions:

Guy at a store when I was 12: "Hey, Indy!"
(My dad: "He recognized you!")

Marty at work: "Why the hell are you wearin' a friggin' leather jacket when it's a hundred degrees outside?" (Me: "Because I'm not outside, Marty; I'm inside this air-conditioned arctic circle you call an office!")

Grandpa Bob: "That's a fancy chapeau!" (Me: "Thanks, Grandpa.")

Lisa at Halloween party: "What are you supposed to be? A detective?"
(Me: "Uh, yeah. Whatever.")

Cop who pulled me over on Halloween: "What are you supposed to be? A cowboy?" (Me: "Uh, yes sir, officer, and that gun's a fake -- really!")

My gear must not be very accurate, 'cause nobody ever seems to recognize it! Oh, well.
