: That would be my most irrational fear. People don't believe me when I say I'm afraid of heights, but skydive with no issues. I explain then it's not so much a fear of heights, as it is a fear of falling. When I'm already falling, hey, no big deal, right? I'm squeamish with bugs, but spending a few days in the amazon, with them infesting my cabin showed that I could face it. Spiders and snakes aren't a big deal; I'm cautious, but not unreasonable. I've wrangled snakes in my garden so I don't run them over with the lawnmower, and simply give the dangerous looking spiders their space. Scurrying mammals in settings I don't expect them (mice in the garage, possums in the backyard) get more of a reaction.
