I've said it before and I'll say it again, River Phoenix was a GREAT younger Indy. If he hadn't thrown his life away he would've been excellent in a whole new trilogy of pre-Raiders Indy movies. In the 10 minutes that he played Indy on screen he displayed much more depth and had a much more commanding presence than Sean Flannery ever did in the hours he spent in the role.
