Actually, while researching for this prop, I realized that the standard blue is also a recent invention. I've seen US passports in grey/green and bright RED! I went with the smaller side (although it's still larger than the modern passport) and the navy blue cover so it would be more recognizable as a passport. The cover is based on an actual 1922 US passport.
