I hate to tell you this about Indy and his habit:

Indy doesn't wear his (somewhat dusty) gear on a daily basis. He wears that only when actively engaged in an adventure.
I don't think going for a drink in the city (End of Raiders) qualifies for wearing the adventure hat (I'm sure he has a bunch of hats and jackets. Everything get's shredded during his adventures). Just like most other guys, Indy wears usually nice regular clothes. Hell, on occasion, he even dresses up like James Bond (TOD)!
Indy wears most of the time suits and nice clean hats (when teaching, when around city folks, when travelling). He wouldn't want people to think he was a lion tamer. :p

So think of that next time you go in full gear to the local McDonalds... ;)
