Actually, the cracker is breaking the speed limit when it reaches it tip limit and creates the distinctive"CRAAACK!" all whip users hope to achieve.
It is at this point that a whip can do so much physical damage if someone or something happens to be on the receiving end. Once the whip "cracks", the most dangerous aspect is pretty well dissipated and the rest is, for all intents and purposes, "recoil"
