Anybody good with definitions out there?

I was trying to explain to my girlfriend what a B-movie is and just had the toughest dagum time doing so. It's hard when B-movie is associated with bad horror movies.
Raiders (as we all know) IS the greatest B-movie ever made.
Stargate is a great B-movie as is JP3 and one of my all time faves, Tremors. I know there are alot more out there but 976-Evil is also a B-movie as is another million ver bad ones. I tried to tell her that even 'A' pictures can be bad as can 'B' movies. (I think The Godfather is one of the most boring movies EVER mad, but I don't wanna start an argument since I seem to be the only human to think so)
Anyway - in telling her how the Indy movies are B movies (this is Indy related), she couldn't get the fact that that doesn't mean bad. IAny help?
