PS The thing to do would be to find a "friend" that is a shoe vendor.

In Reply to: That markup is about %40, which is average. posted by Rundquist on August 07, 2001 at 20:25:06:

He could get you the shoe and you could cut out the "middle" man. You would be of course, depriving somebody of a living.

: Whether you buy a book or a CD, that markup is average guys. A retailer has expenses and has to make a living as well. I'm not saying that the boot is not expensive, just that they are not trying to pull the wool down over your eyes. Cheers

: : Hi Guys,

: : Iv found out some info that i thought you guys might like or wouldnt like to know about alden boots.

: :
: : A few days ago i called my local Shoe shop to get a price on the Adlens 405. Price they gave me was $135!!!

: : So i went in the shop and ordered a pair, But after i had ordered a pair, the shop called me and said they had made a price error!!!

: : Said the shoe was going to be $270. They stated that the price of $135 Was the DEALER COST of the shoe. Thats right there is over an $100 Mark up on that shoe. To make a long story short, they didnt sell me the Shoe. But Now i have to decide if i want to give someone $100+ over the price of the shoe? I know people have to make a living, Im all for that but $100 over cost? thats almost 100% markup.
