I tried re-ribboning my 554 awhile back and had the exact same problem. The crown tapered so someone recomended that I iron an arc into the ribbon. I tried to but I couldn't get an arc big enough the hug the crown nicely. I ended up just going to a hatshop and re-ribboning it there. Good luck! Have a good one!
