I wouldn't worry about it. The frames size should be exactly the same....only the cylinder and barrel size will be slightly different. The New Service model designation referred to the frame for Colt, so that shouldn't be a problem. For what ever reason, Colt sold the New Service in once inch differences of barrel lengths, but at 5.5 in., and so on, where Smith sold theirs at the full inch in differences, 4in, 5 in, etc. You will be fine. Only die hard Indy gun fanatics would even know, but it would be a moot point. Regards. Michaelson


: Okay, I ordered a resin (ToD)colt new service w/ 5.5" barrel(.38). Should I have ordered the .45 version with the 4.5" barrel? Is there a visible difference between the .38 and .45?
