That's the same excuse Lucas and Spielberg have been running out there for years. Back in late '97 and early '98, I was working at Best Buy at the time. DVD was just getting ready to come out, and LaserDisc was still selling fairly well. No one knew how DVD would sell or catch on at the time (Remember Beta and MiniDisc?), so people were hesitant to jump onto the ship full-force. After a while, everyone started backing it, just like with VHS.

Now look at DVD - nearly every movie ever created has been or is being released, even the BAD ones. Using the excuse of "waiting to see how the market performs" is no longer a viable excuse. If theywant to make excuses for not releasing the SW and IJ trilogies on DVD, they need to make a reasonable-sounding excuse and not insult our intelligence.

: The article was mainly about the release of E.T. next year and on how Lucas and Co. run the show on the DVD releases. The Paramount stuio exec was quoted as saying that they cannot release anything at all without the consent of Lucas and Speilberg. *sigh* It also stated that they are waiting for the big films (star wars/indy) to be released until DVD has a steady place in the market. Looks to me as though it already has.

: Do as you will...
