Thanks for the recommendation, JC. Sorry I didn't warn you about the third person; it threw me for a loop the first time too. The only story written by Doyle in third person is the "Mazarin Stone", which is a disturbingly bad piece of writing.
I'll keep an eye out for these books you mentioned.

: "The Surragate Assasian" dealing with the Lincoln Assasination
: can't remember who wrote it but it was Jewish and started with an L

: "The LAst Sherlock Holems Story" written by Michael Dubdin dealin with Jack THe Ripper again but with a shocking twist. Just in case you haven't read these, I recommend them.

: I'm currently reading "The Whitechapel Horrors" per your recommendation, so far I am enthralled but of course thrown off by the third person narrative.....oh well.
