Inspiration for the Grail Diary?

I know this is probably a gear question, but as any attempts to register have resulted in failure and everyone reads this forum anyhow, I thought I'd post here. Some of you other people might be interested too!

I think this notebook is the inspiration for the Grail Diary. It was used by Ernest Hemmingway and Van Gogh (and others) as their notebooks and the elastic band, rounded corners make it look pretty darn similar.

Being the history buff that he is, I think Lucas would have gone to his prop person with a description like this and the brown version is what they come up with.

I bought one and they are pretty nifty.
