The effectiveness of this trick depends upon the leather. It works best on goat, lamb, horse, and kangaroo. I've heard it works to some degree on cowhide.

Turn the jacket inside out when zipped up, pulling the sleeves through. Place it in a dryer with some moderately wet towels. Run it on high heat for no more than 30 minutes. This will generally take the jacket down 1/2 a size. No more than 30 minutes!

I've done this several times myself without any problems. This does not imply, however, that it is foolproof or that it may not damage your jacket. Be cautious.
