IMHO, Williams' style harkens back to the Romantic period of classical music, with big, ballsy orchestrations. I think it's no more fair to say Williams is a copy-cat than the Beatles for borrowing the blues...Ridiculous, in fact. Thing is, Williams influences SO MANY current film composers...He has his influences to be sure, but his music is so instantly recognizable that he obviously has had an impact on culture, which (again, IMHO) is a hallmark of creativity and originality...

So, lol, tell your friends they're wrong!
