Troy was told by a storyteller, not a philosopher. Who knows, perhaps the Atlantis story that was supposibly told by the Egyptian woman was just another of the oft-told flood stories such as Gilgamesh or Noah. Then, that would mean that Atlantis would be in the Near East, if the theory about the event that was the catylast for those stories is true. I just doubt Plato's relaibility as a historian. Perhaps is Herodotus or Thucydides said anything about it, it would be a different story.
