Hi, all. Here's the scoop:

20th Anniversary Screening of Raiders Highlights Widescreen Fest

The 7th Annual WideScreen Festival, held Oct. 4-7 at Cal State Long Beach's
Carpenter Center, will present two VFX classics on Saturday: Raiders of the
Lost Ark, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, and Poltergeist. On Sunday
afternoon, the Warner Bros. cartoon classic, Rabbit Hood, will screen
before The Adventures of Robin Hood, the 1938 Technicolor swashbuckler that
inaugurates a new program at the festival: "What if it had been shot wide?"

Although it wasn't mentioned in the promo above, the filmfest also features "Lawrence of Arabia" on Sunday afternoon. If you haven't seen it, you should. Also not mentioned in the promo above: "Raiders" starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and the theater screen is 21' x 50'.

Other "Raiders" screenings in Los Angeles have had prints of widely-varying quality. The print at The Egyptian was clear, stunning and lovely, while a screening at another venue had one of the miserable-every-mope-with-access-to-the-print-has-cut-out-a-souvenier versions.

The gentleman at the Cal State Long Beach box office didn't have info about which sort to expect on Saturday, but he did confirm it's a 35 mm print. Also, it's open seating, so prepare to queue up in 80-degree weather.

Here's the link just in case the automated version doesn't work:

There you have it. If any of the Los Angeles/Burbank crew wants to link up for dinner/beer/etc. before the screening, let's discuss it via e-mail.
