Schweitzer was known for being one of the era's foremost pipe organ performance musicians of his time, and is known for his single handed efforts of bringing J.S. Bach back into the performance halls and concert auditoriums. Bach had been pretty much forgotten by church and professional musicians, and Schweitzer re-introduced Bach's music, as well as had many works published for others to play.
