I've actually grown fond of ST5, mainly through the numerous showings of it on cable. Oh, I still realize it's not a good movie at all, but the redeeming quality for me is that they spend so much time focusing on the friendship of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy.

The Next Generation films all seem to lack this kind of foundation, and for that reason I would gladly watch the old cast in their worst mission over any of the recent films.

Kirk: I oughta [hit you].

Spock: If you think it would help.

McCoy: You want me to hold him, Jim?
