Looks like those rumours of a "gun-less" E.T. are true.

The new Grinch DVD is sporting the teaser for the upcoming re-release of E.T. Among the changes: the G-Men now carry walkie talkies in place of firearms, and a CGI makeover for both E.T. and his ship taking off.

The "most ridiculous change award" still goes to having poor Dee Wallace Stones fly in and redub the line "You look like a terrorist."

Let's hope that the DVD expected late next year will include the original version of the film as well as this "Special" edition...and also that Indy never has to succumb to George and Steven's 'whims'.
