Glasses + fighting = not good

One explanation for me would be that Indy never knew when he was going to be thrown into an adventure or fight. Not only that but maybe the filmakers knew they had a "cool" character and didn't feel the need to try.
Besides, maybe Ray Ban and other companies hadn't picked up on selling their shades on screen yet.
