Can't say that I've heard anything about that one (the theatres and the security issue), but with all of the paranoia in the motherland right now, I don't mind the extra attention from the powers that be, provided that they are seeking to find that 0.00000000001% of our fellow men who would like to do us ill will.
Also, perhaps I am a bit biased, since as a longtime Rocky Horror fan, I'm used to having the moviegoer's bags inspected for anything that the management didn't feel like cleaning up after.
