This isn't really related, but thought it would be of interest. I once (May 1995) read that the punishment for patricide in Augustinian Rome was for the guilty party to be sewn inside a hide (burlap?) bag with a mad dog, a fighting cock, and a venomous snake, then the whole lot was thrown into the Tiber.
