I have an old Raiders videotape. Watch it alone.
Usually fast-forward to these scenes: Temple; Indy & Marcus at Indy's house; Raven's bar shootout; Sallah's house chat/Cairo street fight/Imam's house... Map Room.
Quite honestly, when I was 13 and saw Raiders in the 1981 in the cinema I was blown away by the few seconds of Indy and friends digging at sunset sillouhette scene. Those few seconds of film blew me away in the theater and still do today. I could watch ten minutes of that scene without boredom. It seems so, so, so evocative of the mystery of digging into the earth to access the past.
You know, it's probably the feeling that those few seconds of film inspired in me that makes me bother being interested in Indiana Jones at all, after all these years.
So there.
