The Proclamation affected only about six percent of the south, so that probably wasn't the reason an entire half of the country continued to fight a war that they knew they weren't going to win in the long run.
I'm pretty sure that you meant your post as more ribbing, as Fedora put it, but slavery (then and now) is an ugly thing to get into a passionate discussion about.
I still think you're a good guy, Brett, so please don't take this as a lecture. I just hate to see people hurt, one way or the other.
