: What is this anyway? Is it like D&D in a Indy-like setting?

It's like D&D in that it's a roleplaying game (RPG): one person is the referee/game-master, telling the rest of the players (each of whom is playing a character in the game) of what's going on around them, acting out all the people the characters meet, and moving the story forward (adjusting it according to what the players decide to do). And yes, in an Indy-like setting - or any other setting that fits within the pulp-novel and/or the Saturday morning serial genre.

GURPS Cliffhangers is a supplement for GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System), which contains a set of rules that covers any and every genre imaginable... and would even allow you to mix-and-match genres if you chose to do so. The supplements that come out for GURPS help specialize on one particular genre or story, although the supplements are informative enough that they can also be used for any other roleplaying game rules... or just simply for a good read.

As a matter of fact, in the Bibliography (Movies and Television) section of GURPS Cliffhangers, all three Indiana Jones are included as some of the definitive works on the subject matter. The Bibliography (Games) section also mentions the old TSR Indiana Jones RPG as inspiration, although for some reason it doesn't mention the later West End Games version of the Indiana Jones RPG.

      Did that help any?
