Ford is perfectly capable of playing Indy again, for the simple reason that Ford IS Indiana Jones. He still walks like him, still sounds like him, and still grins like Indy when he is up to no good.

Where is the advantage of casting someone younger? How would that evolve the character, or take us somewhere we hadn't been with Indy yet?

Personally, I'd rather go on one last great quest with an older Indy, than watch some younger guy go through the motions of what we saw 20 years ago.

Ford as Indiana Jones again is perfectly believable- both in terms of actor AND character. In Houdini's advanced years, his body was in horrible shape (like that of a man TWICE his age) and yet he was still shackling himself before jumping into rivers.

It's called 'passion for your work' and both Ford and Jones have it.
