: : : : : I recently visited my local hardware store and asked if they sold
: : : : : Midwest gloves. To my delight, they did, but did not have model
: : : : : #850 (from previous posts, the authentic gloves worn by our hero)
: : : : : in stock. I asked if they could order a pair, but when the
: : : : : salesperson looked it up in his catalog, the model was 850VL and
: : : : : was described as having a deer lining. I never read anyone saying
: : : : : the gloves had a lining and just wanted to know if there was a
: : : : : model 850 (without the VL), or did Iny's gloves have that lining.

: : : : : Any input is (as always) greatly appreciated.

: : : : : Regards and Happy Holidays to all,
: : : : : Stephen

: : : : At my local home dopot i found a 851 but i hav not found a 850 i wonder if they have changed the model number or droped the 850

: : : The elusive Midwest glove #850;
: : :
: : : I believe is one of the more controversial Indy outfit items.
: : :
: : : I tried Midwest directly, and all of the local hardware stores & shops-I could not get them.
: : : The closest I found was the #851.
: : :
: : : I agree with Michaelson; that the gloves may have been Wells Lamont's "Grips" Model.
: : :
: : : I bought a pair myself for $10-12. They are the right color, unlined, and appear to be the same style.
: : :
: : : Plus they are readily available; which would give one more reason to believe
: : :
: : : that they were used instead of Midwest.
: : :
: : : Anyway; as long as you have something close--I wouldn't sweat it!
: : :
: : :
: : : But if someone has a picture--I wouldn't mind taking a look.
: : :
: : : Happy Holidays!

: : Where can I get a pair of 'Well's Lamont "grips" model'? Or could you direct me to the post that michaelson mentioned these?

: They can be found at any Walmart store, or like store. Regards. Michaelson

I don't know about Midwest, though I do have an alternate
solution: David Morgan sells genuine American-made Geier gloves
made of ultra-light weight kangaroo leather. I have seen these
in his print catalog and on his website. They look very much
like the gloves Indiana Jones wears. I am buying a pair for my
birthday this month and I would be happy to tell you how they
look. I also think that they would be good gloves to use while
practicing with the bullwhip.
