: So, what do you guys think? Do you think to fully appreciate the films, you have to be Christian? Is that why Temple is the least popular film, because it involves Hindu myth, instead of the Christian/Potter story?

When it comes down to it, Indy is a fictionalized view of history and religion. The setting has some reality to it but the characters and events are made up. If you were from Betelgeuse Seven and believed in the prophet Zarquon, I think it would still be an entertaining story, much like Lord of the Rings takes place in a world very different from our own, but we still enjoy the story.

On the other hand, we all have a particular worldview woven deep into our psychology. When a story taps into a deeply held belief, it can have greater resonance. So, I think your particular religious persuasion can increase your appreciation for a particular Indy movie, but it's not at all necessary.

BTW, your "associates" must be complete idiots.
