: Wow! Never heard about that one... any clarifications?

After the French Revolution had finally settled down, the French needed to expand the city for the ever growing population. The only land available was the hugh cemetaries that were all around the city. The city "fathers" decided to excavated all the graves and move all the bones to caverns they began to carve under the city of Paris. Since no grave was removed in keeping with the names of the dead, they just piled the bones together in areas designated for a particular cemetary, and actually built walls and designs in the walls using the bones, skulls, etc. with the name of the particular cemetary engraved on a tablet set in the walls. The moved all the bodies/bones by night so not to particularly disturb the population. They say that there are literally millions of bodies interred under Paris....actually the population UNDER the city is greater than the living population that lives IN the city. This came from the Discovery Channel series "Can you Believe IT?" last month. Those caverns run for miles and miles, and only bones and skulls grinning from the walls are to be seen for miles. Sobering scene. Regards. Michelson
