'Old favorite' movie review: "Topkapi" (1964), with the smoove Maximillian Schell, creepy nympho Melina Mercouri, and shmoe Peter Ustinov. Ah, I'd forgotten how fun this picture was. And how it made me hungry for baklava. No comment on the greasy Turkish wrestler guys :(
I've always enjoyed a good '60s caper flick; this includes earlier and later pictures such as "Rififi" (1955), Parisian jewel thieves (of course - the precursor, the UR-caper, watch it or regret it), "How to Steal a Million" (1966), Parisian museum thieves (the essence of 'lighthearted'), "Return of the Pink Panther" (1975) (amusing...), and even "The Hot Rock" (1972) ("Afganistan banana stand" - say no more).
Maybe that's why I like ol' Indy - the Chachapoyan temple scene harks back to these great caper flicks in the nicest way... :p
