: I follow their question. There were two Panama Hat people in the film, the young one in 1912 involved in the chase, then the fellow on the ship in the 30's, who was definately older. He did indeed resemble the sheriff from the 1912 segment. Regards. Michaelson

Oooh Do'h ... I always thought that was the same Panama Hat until I watched it again. Thank you Michaelson for showing something I overlooked all these years. The 2 Panama Hats look almost the same and we don't get too see the young one in close up, you see.
The young Panama Hat is played by Tim Hiser.
