I remember seeing the cut photos of short round and the thugee in the Temple of Doom storybook or the "making of" book that they sold in the theater (these books are a great source of extra photos). One of the books had the explanation of the fire waking people from the "sleep".

I've never seen an added footage version of any Indy movies, although I wish I could!
