: Has anyone read the posting on Ebay from that unfortunate guy who
: was taken for $190.00 on a Grail Diary?

I'm glad this was brought up. I've been looking for a nice copy of the
Last Crusade game to PLAY for a long time now and I've been amazed and
shocked when I saw what those instruction manuals were going for on
Ebay! The same day that that warning was posted on Ebay there was an
auction for one of these diaries and soon after it was cancelled, I
suspect the seller didn't like having the cat let out of the bag!

To my knowledge there has never been a picture of the diary on Ebay
that was of a long shot to give the book a sense of scale, like the
book next to the disks for example. All the pictures are extreme close
ups which give the impression that it is a prop style replica. With
artifical "coffee stains" and leather looking cover.

Also if this book so rare, then how come one or two of them are on
Ebay every week? I remember playing the game back in the day and that
game was everywhere. The Lucasarts and Sierra adventure games were the
big games for the home computer in those days, even if there are
variations of the book as Lucasarts created cheaper versions to save
on production costs, the game was still a mass market item. Not a
limited edition collectors item! It seems that there are many people
who have dozens of these things, how can they be worth $100?

So having said that rant, anyone have Last Crusade adventure game with
the diary, 4th cheapo version ;), that they'll sell me, cheap?

BTW on the idea of making your grail diary your very own did anyone
mention the idea of researching your family tree? My Dad has been
doing this and this Xmas I got a good look at what he's done. He's
found family members we never knew existed! He even looked up and
old census done in England in the 19th century and contacted Churches
in England to confirm births. Lots of research potential that you can
do from your own home for little cost.
