This is no joke people! Check out this interview with George Lucas. He says there's going to be an Indiana Jones special edition project! Other interesting stuff, too.

Please disregard that URL I posted earlier (unless you want to read it just for fun) because I have since found out that it was fake. Someone's idea of a joke I guess. Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead you... I just overreacted before I verified the info. I apologize.

I just read it (well for the laugh of course) but found it neither revealing nor too hokey. Which leaves me with questions for both of you:

Northy: Everything seems pretty on par with everything else I've read in Lucas, McCallum, etc, interviews; what basis do you have now saying the article is a fake? (I wish people would get into the habit of posting thier sources mor often with the info...sheesh!)

Rik: Thier was virtually no information - what made you sick? I for one WOULD like to see the Indy trilogy restored in picture quality and sound, and I wouldn't mind if some effects were cleaned up (i.e. Indy's safety trench under that truck, the puppet effects in the mine car)! As for suprises, well - as long as Indy still guns down that swordsman, then I'm up for almost anything really.

I'm all for restoration. But call me a purist. If they were to change a single shot of Raiders, while I KNOW that I'd go see it, I'm sure it would turn my stomach. I saw the Star Wars Spcial Editions and most of the added things were, in my opinion, not an improvement. Greedo did not get a chance to shoot first, Obi-Wan did not need C-3PO to explain the location and method of shutting down the tractor beam. So if I were to go see Raiders with an added couple of booby traps in the Temple at the beginning, and added unnecessary FX here, there and everywhere I'd be disappointed at the least. Please, don't let this happen. I'm so relieved that this interview is a fake, but the possibility that it could happen is, I think, a little scary.

The reason I said it was fake is because I later found out who created the page. He calls himself "Nightmarish" and is the bane of Star Wars websites everywhere. I admit, this particular hoax was clever, subtle, and was honestly rather amusing, but this character is known for harassing web sites and forums like this one with personal attacks, impersonations and generally being a real jerk. I'm not saying that it's definately 100% innaccurate info, just that the "new" interesting parts are darn likely to be fake. In other words, don't get your hopes up (or down, as the case may be) based on this supposed interview.
