Raiders probably refers to the Nazis, not Indy himself. In the new film, who knows what 'Raiders' would mean? And by the way, in the original film Indy WAS a 'pothunter/graverobber' sort of guy. He didn't believe in religion and looked at the Ark as one big prize to be taken for the museum. By the end he changed his mind slightly. Remember how Lucas first envisioned the character? Well it's obvious he wasn't 100% pure-hearted.
