I don't think bantam lost the rights to the book, at least I hope they didn't. I do know that Max McCoy felt he couldn't continue writing the books because because he was afraid of running out of ideas and deadlines. In the article I read it sounded like he felt bad that he was only putting them out only 1 a year and felt pressed at doing that. But I think Bantam will look for a new writer. If they did lose the rights, I'm sure someone will pick it up. they won't let that go for too long a period of time.
