My current pair of Aldens are the old "red" stock. They are great shoes but the leather on either side of the shoe does not touch when laced up. I have about a ½ inch gap over the tongue. I would like the leather to touch when laced up as I think it gives the shoes a much more rakish appearance. I was hoping that the "Back East" shoes were custom orders like a EE width front/B heal. The new color and "less leather" does not bode well for my next pair. Alden probably cut back on the amount of leather to save some money. I would like to see some pictures of the "new" Aldens on the feet in comparison to the old. Me thinks I best order my next pair very soon. Perhaps, I can still get some old stock!
