: You quoted from "Raiders" so I'll just address the lack of NY accents in that film. First, we hear very few New Yorkers speak in "Raiders." In fact I can't think of one character who is a native New Yorker in the whole film. Marcus is English. The two Army guys are just visitors and we don't know where they came from. None of Indy's students had any lines. That leaves only Indy himself. I'm sure someone on this forum knows where Indy is from but I don't. Even if he was born in New York, we know that he grew up all over the world and it's unlikely he'd have kept the accent.

Pretty good points. But what about in The Last Crusade? We have at least one student asking Indy a question (as he was entering his office), many other students vying for his attention, his secretary telling him who called and such, the two men who stopped Indy after he escaped his office through the window (well, one of the men asked him a question, anyway), and Walter Donovan & his wife (I think she said a line or two)... not a single one of them with a New York accent. :)

I'm not complaining (no, I'm not from New York, so I'm not mad or anything)... I was just curious! :D
